Daniel L. Andresen, age 88, of Elgin, passed away July 6, 2019 at Avantara of Elgin. He was born July 15, 1930 in Elgin to his loving parents, Erwin and Meta Andresen (Ehlert).
Daniel was a graduate of St. John’s Lutheran grade school and Elgin High School.
He served his country with the 9th U.S. Marine Corps Rear Detatchment in the Korean War as a Field Radio Operator from 1951 to 1953. He earned the rank of Corporal and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with Three Stars, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, and the National Defense Service Medal.
Daniel retired from Illinois Tool Works’ Fastex division.
Daniel was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing basketball with fellow members in the 1960s and 1970s. He was also an avid fan of the Cubs and the Bears.
Daniel was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bertha Andresen, sister Lenore Studebaker, and brothers Erwin Andresen Jr. and Gordon Andresen.
Daniel is survived by his step-daughter Roberta Luebbers; and nieces and nephews Denise Studebaker, and James, Paul, Robert S. and Scott Andresen.
Graveside service will be 11:00a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Lakewood Memorial Park, 30W730 Hwy 20, Elgin IL 60120, Rev. Clifford “Hannibal” Frederich officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Semper Fi Fund.
