Robert Lee Banks, age 66, of Rockford, passed away at home in Rockford on February 3, 2017. He was born in Chicago, IL on April 9, 1950 to his loving parents, Eddie “King Peter” and Betty Banks.
Robert worked as a carpenter, mechanic, electrician and in maintenance. He was very hard-working, willing to work all hours, and he never missed a day.
Robert was married to the love of his life, Lillian, for 37 years, and together they raised eight children. He was a big family man who loved everyone. He always made an impact, whether it was a joke that made you laugh, one of his many stories, or simply taking the time to share his wisdom. Loved ones will remember Robert as an honest and direct man of few words, but he always got his point across – because of that, he was well respected. In his free time, Robert enjoyed music and cars.
Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Ashley Banks; and his sister, Katie Banks.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Lillian; his children, Bobbie (Nina) Banks, Angela Dean, Marie “Lil’ one” Jones, Katie Dean, Antonio “Tony” Robinson, Sherman Kennedy and Robert “Lil’ Bob” Banks; siblings William Banks, Andrew Banks, and Kertistine Ba nks.
Visitation will be 11:00a.m. til time of service at 3:00p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St, Elgin, IL 60120. Interment will be private.
