James Claxton, age 91, passed away June 18, 2014 at St Joseph Hospital in Elgin, IL. Born March 29, 1923 in Paris, TN to the loving union of John and Myrtle Claxton.
James served in World War II with honor. James was known for his humor and love for life. He was a loving father, grandfather, great- grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. James treated every member of his family with the same with love and compassion. By his own admission, he was never a perfect man, but strived everyday to be as perfect as he could. James enjoyed stock car racing, telling jokes, and sometimes even good jokes. He loved spending as much time as he could with his family. He retired from Hills-McCanna Manufacturing after more then 30 years working as a supervisor of shipping & receiving.
He is survived by his daughter Doris Dimiceli, son Steven (Karen) Hoyt, daughter-in-law Darlene Hoyt and 28 grandchildren. Preceded in death by his loving wife Ann, son John, daughter Robin Leary, and sister Alice L. Moore.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 20, 2014 from 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street Elgin, IL 60120. Services will be held Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 10:00 am, Interment at River Valley Cemetery with military honors.
