Hans J. Zaage, 83, of Elgin, passed away October 23, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at The Vines Senior homes in Elgin. Hans was born June 16, 1936 in Germany to his loving parents, Admiral Albert and Elizabeth Zaage (Seegers).
Hans spent his childhood in Germany, and later immigrated to the United States in the 1950s, sponsored by his Uncle in Barrington, IL. Hans went on to work as a carpenter.
Hans also served in the U.S. Army National Guard.
Hans was a longtime member of the German Society, and it was there he met his wife of 61 years, Margarethe Delfs. Together they raised two children and settled in Elgin.
Loved ones will remember him as fun loving person with a wonderful sense of humor. Hans was generous with his time and talents, always willing to lend a hand to others.
Hans is survived by his loving wife, Margarethe; children Mike (Kimberly) Zaage and Lisa Zaage; brother Uwe (Gudrun) Zaage; sister Ingeborg Waeldin; granddaughter Sarah Zaage; many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life will be held 2:00p.m. November 10, 2019 at The Grove Banquets and Catering, 301 Weiland Rd, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089. Interment will be private.
