Harold Gregory “Greg” Meyer, 68, passed away April 28, 2018 at Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, IL. He was born on December 12, 1949 in Quincy, IL to Beatrice M. Stormer (nee Kistner) and Harold E. Meyer, who passed away in 1953 when Greg was a young child. Beatrice later married Bill Stormer, who Greg saw as his father and best friend.
Greg graduated from Quincy High School and Quincy College before attending John Marshall Law School where he earned a Juris Doctorate. He worked as a police officer, attorney, and most recently a Computer Network Engineer.
He shared 38 years of marriage with Joanne (nee Wilkinson), and together they raised three children.
Loved ones will remember Greg as a jack of all trades who could fix almost anything. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and a life-long Chicago Cubs fan.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Meyer; three children, Katie Hansen, Jeffery (Courtney) Meyer, and Allison (Stephen) Hale; four grandchildren, Audrey Hansen, Aidan Hansen, Zachary Meyer, and Benjamin Meyer; sister Joann (Richard) Reichert; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Greg was a warm, generous, kind, and a friend to many.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be given to the Illinois Conservation Foundation (www.ilcf.org).
