George William “Billy” Miller, Jr., 70, of Genoa, IL, passed away at home surrounded by loving family on August 18, 2018. George was born July 19. 1948 in Waukesha, WI to his loving parents, George William Miller, Sr. and Mildred Mabel Miller (Hall).
George served his country as a Private in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Following the war, he worked as a truck driver and salesman, later retiring as a salesman for Economy Packing. Colleagues will remember George as a hard-working and loyal employee. He married the love of his life, Carrie, in 1978, after meeting her at the drive-in movie theater, where they saw The Exorcist. Together they shared 40 wonderful years of marriage and raised four children. George always lived his life for the Lord, and Sundays were reserved for worship and time with family. He had a big heart and always took anyone in who needed help, and made sure they had a good meal. In his free time, George enjoyed fishing, watching deer, and golf. He loved good food, and was always asking for or sharing recipes with friends and family.
George was preceded in dean by his brother-in-law Lyndell Milam.
George is survived by his dear wife, Carrie; his children, Crystal (Jesse Cerbes) Kunze, Corey (Darnell Thomas) Miller, Georgie (William Taylor) Miller, and Gretchen (Jonathan “Jaden” Greslo) Diaz; siblings Sharon Deegan, Dian (James) Hall, Jody Milam, Penny (Harry) Jones, Johnny Miller, and Mark Miller; aunt Sally Anderson; Grandchildren, Emily, Frank, Madison, Jesse Jr., Andrea, Farrah, Jace, Grayson, Katherine, Trevor, and baby William Miller, George’s name-sake; and nieces and nephews, Timmy, Shelli, Jeff, Eric, Casey, Lance, Duran, Jered, Jeremy, Chad, Lindsay, Justin, Jasmine, Missy, Bindy, Jason, and Eric.
Visitation will be 1:00p.m. until time of service at 3:00p.m. with full military honors to follow on Saturday, August 25, 2019 at Abiding Peace Lutheran Church, 9N9876 S Randall Rd, Elgin IL 60120, Rev. Joshua Free officiating. Interment will be private.
