Dennis “Denny” Raoul Junod, age 84, of St. Charles, passed away December 12, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 19, 1935 in Elgin to his loving parents, Raoul and Dorothy Junod (Mosiman).
At age 18, Denny met the love of his life, Joan, at the corner drugstore when he came in for a cup of coffee and Joan served him. They married three and a half years later, in September 8, 1956. This year they celebrated 64 years of marriage.
He started working with AT&T (Illinois Bell at the time) at age 19, and ultimately worked his way from an entry level position up to the legal department, where he managed 100 employees. He took charge of the battle between AT&T and Sprint, traveling to Washington, D.C. to represent the company’s interest with federal regulators. Denny retired after 33 years of dedicated service.
Together with his wife Joan, he began a career as a residential and commercial developer; their company was Denny-Jo Inc. The couple bought and managed apartment buildings and served as general contractor on four homes and two commercial buildings. They developed land for two parcels of 21 homes and a parcel for 160 townhomes.
Denny enjoyed traveling around the world with Joan. Together they visited Vienna, Austria, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Mexico. He loved baseball, and he played left field for more than thirty years.
Denny was preceded in death by his sister, Pat Mengler and brother-in-law Dave Mengler.
Denny is survived by his loving wife, Joan; son Craig Junod; daughter Michelle (Andrew) Busch; nephew Randy Mengler, grandchildren Lacey, Lauren, Leanne, Jason, Kiley, Jacob, and Jessica; nine great-grandchildren, and many cousins.
